Surrounded by the magnificent valleys of Manikoot, Vishnukoot, and Brahmakoot, Neelkanth Temple is located on the confluence of the Madhumati and Pankaja rivers. This place has a thrilling trekking route of 4 kilometers amidst the verdant forest.
The temple complex also has a natural spring where devotees take a holy dip. There is a Shiva Lingam in the main shrine of the temple. The spiritual aura of the temple instills a devotional feeling in the people’s hearts. Devotees who come here offer flowers, coconut, honey, fruits, milk, and water to the Lord with reverence.
One more unique part of the Neelkanth Mahadev Temple is the wall carvings, which depict scenes of the ocean churning battle between gods and demons and Lord Shiva drinking poison.

Important Things to Notice While Visiting The Temple
- The road to Neelkanth is very short and dangerous due to the deep gorge on both sides, so if you can drive properly, only go by car or take a taxi from Rishikesh.
- If you have small children with you on this journey, definitely take food items because you will not find many shops on the way. In the month of Sawan, there is a lot of crowd of devotees, at that time it is most difficult to come by bike.
