Located at the confluence of holy rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati, Triveni Ghat is a sacred bathing place. Being perched in the foothills of Himalaya in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, it is a trendy tourist spot. It’s considered that, before going to the temples of Rishikesh, devotees should take a dip in the holy water of the Ghat. People believe that by taking a bath in the sacred water, one gets freedom from his sins.
Triveni Ghat is also famous among the devotees for the Ganga Aarti. Maha Aarti is held twice every morning and evening. The Aarti has its relevance and has special significance for those who attend it. Every evening, devotees assemble here for Ganga Aarti and participate in discourses and hymns with great reverence. During the Aarti, devotees take flowers and a lighting lamp and immerse them in Maa Ganga Ji. In the evening, the view of the twinkling lamps in the Ganges is worth seeing.
A ritual called Pind Shradh is also performed here for the peace of the soul.
There is a local market near the ghat, where all the worship materials related to the temple are available. Apart from this, you can also buy some souvenirs for your friends and relatives from here like- idols, photos, prasad, garlands, etc. The environment around the temple is very peaceful and spiritual, where you can spend some moments of relaxation.
The Rishikesh Bus Stand is just 1 km away from Triveni Ghat. From there, one can go by any private vehicle.
The best time to visit Triveni Ghat is from Feb – May and from Oct – Nov.
